Power Grid Approves Transmission Route for Dholera
AHMEDABAD: In a critical step toward infrastructure readiness, the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) granted technical approval for the development of a dedicated transmission route for Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). This green signal marks a foundational move to support the energy backbone required for the planned industrial and smart city development in the region.
The approved network involves a high-voltage transmission line, strategically connected to the Western Regional Grid, allowing seamless power flow across Gujarat and beyond. The system is engineered to handle heavy-load demand from future manufacturing hubs, commercial clusters, residential sectors, and transport systems within Dholera SIR.
What sets this transmission infrastructure apart is its advanced design, enabling seamless integration of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. With Dholera’s potential as a solar energy hub already being explored, this route will ensure uninterrupted, clean power to key services including smart grids, automated street lighting, intelligent water pumping, and public transport electrification.
Experts believe this approval will accelerate investor confidence, as power availability remains one of the top priorities for industries evaluating locations. By linking Dholera to India’s robust grid system with advanced load balancing, the transmission route will anchor the region’s ambition to become a self-sustaining, energy-efficient smart city.
