GANDHINAGAR : In a major step toward ensuring resilient infrastructure for the upcoming Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), the Government of Gujarat approved a budgetary allocation of ₹2,800 crore for flood management and mitigation projects. This strategic funding aims to prepare the Activation Area and its surrounding zones to withstand monsoon-related challenges through robust and future-proof engineering solutions.

The flood-control infrastructure package includes the development of elevated roadsstormwater drainage systemsunderpasses, and expressway embankments designed to prevent seasonal flooding and ensure uninterrupted connectivity. Engineering designs will incorporate hydrological modeling to assess water flow patterns and establish bunds and canal networks that redirect excess rainwater safely.

The planned works also include critical bunding around the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway corridor to safeguard key transit infrastructure. Integrated drainage systems will be synchronized with town planning layouts, supporting long-term flood resilience for residential, commercial, and industrial zones within DSIR.

Officials from the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) and Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) confirmed that initial tenders would be floated soon, with a phased execution approach aligned with the activation timelines of TP Schemes 1 and 2.

This significant financial commitment underlines the state's proactive approach to infrastructure preparedness, positioning Dholera as a model for climate-resilient smart city planning in India.
