Discussions on Dholera’s Role in Regional Industrial Balance
GUJARAT: Government officials, industry leaders, and urban planners have held discussions to explore how Dholera can play a strategic role in promoting balanced regional industrial growth across Gujarat. The discussions focused on leveraging Dholera’s potential to distribute industrial activities more evenly, reducing over-concentration in cities like Ahmedabad and Vadodara while promoting planned industrialization in underutilized regions.
Key points included Dholera’s planned infrastructure, its proximity to major ports, and its location within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), which positions it as a viable destination for advanced manufacturing, electronics, and semiconductor industries. By attracting industries to Dholera, the state aims to alleviate congestion, pollution, and overuse of infrastructure in existing industrial hubs, fostering a more sustainable and resilient industrial landscape.
The meeting emphasized the need for reliable infrastructure in Dholera, including wide roads, efficient drainage systems, power connectivity, and water supply, ensuring industries can operate without disruptions. Authorities also highlighted the importance of clear land allocation policies and simplified approval processes to encourage industries to set up units in Dholera seamlessly.
Stakeholders highlighted that generating local job opportunities in the region would ease migration pressures on bigger cities and enhance living standards in surrounding towns and villages. Additionally, discussions noted that this would contribute to balanced economic development across Gujarat, reducing regional disparities and ensuring that smaller towns benefit from industrial growth.
The discussions aligned with Gujarat’s broader goal to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development, ensuring that industrial progress supports environmental responsibility while strengthening the state’s position as an attractive hub for high-tech industries under India’s Make in India and Smart Cities Mission initiatives.
