Study Highlights Dholera for Agro-Processing Industries
GUJARAT: A comprehensive study has identified Dholera as a promising location for the development of agro-processing industries, citing its excellent connectivity, proximity to agricultural regions, and infrastructure readiness as key advantages. The study emphasized that Dholera’s strategic location within Gujarat, coupled with its accessibility to major highways and potential future logistics hubs, makes it well-suited for agro-processing units looking to source raw materials from nearby farming communities efficiently.
Dholera’s vast land availability provides opportunities for setting up processing plants for grains, fruits, and vegetables, enabling value addition to local produce and reducing post-harvest losses in the region. By developing agro-processing industries in Dholera, the state aims to create new market linkages for farmers, improve their income levels, and generate employment opportunities within rural and semi-urban areas.
The report highlighted the possibility of integrating cold chain logistics, warehousing facilities, and packaging units to create a comprehensive agro-processing ecosystem in Dholera, supporting Gujarat’s broader vision of boosting the agro-industrial sector under the state’s industrial growth plans. Stakeholders noted that attracting investment in agro-processing will not only enhance food security but also promote exports of processed food products from the region, contributing to Gujarat’s economy.
Additionally, the development of agro-processing industries in Dholera will help reduce the pressure on existing agro-processing clusters in other parts of Gujarat by diversifying industrial locations and spreading economic activities. This approach aligns with the state’s goal to ensure balanced regional growth while fostering sustainable industrialization. Authorities are expected to continue consultations with investors and farmers to further refine strategies for setting up agro-processing clusters in Dholera in the coming phases.
