
Global Advisory Panel Formed for Dholera Planning
GANDHINAGAR: In a strategic move to align Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) with global urban development benchmarks, the Government of Gujarat established a Global Advisory Panel. This high-level panel consists of renowned experts from leading international urban planning firms, as well as faculty from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), including IIT Hyderabad.
The panel has been entrusted with the task of offering guidance on multiple critical aspects of Dholera’s growth, such as:
Establishing urban design best practices and spatial development standards
Integrating smart city technologies, including ICT, automated utilities, and centralized command systems
Promoting transit-oriented development (TOD) to ensure efficient land use and public transport systems
Recommending sustainability and climate-resilient infrastructure frameworks in line with global standards
Reviewing town planning schemes, zoning logic, and infrastructure sequencing for long-term efficiency
The expert committee is set to collaborate closely with Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd. (DICDL) to guide strategic planning and execution efforts.
and Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) to ensure that the city’s master planning, engineering, and urban management systems meet international expectations.
The advisory panel is also expected to recommend innovations in green building norms, energy-efficient systems, flood mitigation planning, and smart governance mechanisms to make Dholera a model smart city under India’s Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) initiative.
