Gujarat Plans Full Semiconductor Supply Chain in Dholera
GANDHINAGAR: In 2022, the Gujarat government shared its plan to create a complete semiconductor supply chain in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). This plan will include wafer fabrication plants (fabs), Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) units, and chip design centers to support the entire chip-making process in one place.
By building all parts of the supply chain in Dholera, Gujarat aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported semiconductor chips while supporting the country’s vision to become self-reliant in technology. The plan will also create new skilled jobs in Gujarat in areas like advanced manufacturing, electronics, and chip design.
Dholera’s large, prepared industrial plots, reliable power, and good connectivity make it a strong location for semiconductor industries. By bringing together all parts of the chip-making process, Dholera can attract global and domestic companies looking to set up operations in India under the Make in India and Semiconductor Mission initiatives.
This move will help Dholera become a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and design, supporting India’s growing electronics industry while boosting Gujarat’s economy and job opportunities in high-tech sectors.
