DHOLERA: In a significant boost to infrastructure development in Gujarat, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially issued tenders for the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, marking the beginning of an ambitious plan to strengthen high-speed road connectivity between Ahmedabad and the emerging Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).

This greenfield access-controlled expressway is a key component of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and is designed to serve as the main logistics corridor for transporting goods, raw materials, and workforce efficiently. With wide lanes, service roads, and advanced safety systems, this expressway aims to reduce travel time dramatically while offering a future-ready foundation for metro rail integration and smart mobility solutions.

The corridor will not only connect Dholera to Ahmedabad’s urban core and airport but also act as the backbone of industrial movement for upcoming manufacturing hubs, logistics parks, and port-linked cargo routes. Land acquisition and pre-construction studies have already been initiated to facilitate rapid project implementation.

Officials believe that this expressway project will significantly enhance investor confidence and accelerate economic activities in Dholera SIR by resolving a key bottleneck—accessibility. As Dholera continues to evolve as India’s first greenfield smart industrial city, such connectivity projects are essential for its sustainable growth and national competitiveness.
