GUJARAT: Senior government officials and planning authorities have discussed aligning Dholera’s proposed development plans with nearby port infrastructure to facilitate integrated port-led industrial growth in the region. The discussions focused on leveraging Dholera’s proximity to Gujarat’s coastal network and key ports to enable seamless logistics for industries, particularly those with export-oriented operations.

The potential integration aims to position Dholera as a manufacturing and export hub, reducing logistics costs for industries while promoting efficient movement of goods to international markets. By utilizing existing and proposed port infrastructure, Dholera can attract industries requiring direct access to global shipping routes, supporting sectors such as engineering goods, chemicals, textiles, agro-products, and emerging industries like electronics and semiconductors.

Officials highlighted that aligning Dholera’s industrial zones with port infrastructure will support Gujarat’s vision under the state’s industrial policy to enhance exports while creating a robust supply chain ecosystem. The discussions included plans for developing road and rail connectivity from Dholera to nearby ports, establishing logistics parks, and enabling seamless multimodal transport options to reduce turnaround time for exports.

Additionally, the integrated port-led approach is expected to drive local employment opportunities, strengthen the regional economy, and encourage investment from domestic and international players seeking export-friendly industrial locations. Stakeholders noted that this strategy would help decongest existing industrial clusters near ports while diversifying industrial activities across Gujarat.

Future consultations and feasibility studies are planned to refine infrastructure development strategies, align zoning plans, and prepare land for industries prioritizing exports. This integrated approach aligns with Gujarat’s long-term vision of making Dholera a future-ready industrial and export hub, supporting balanced regional development and India’s export competitiveness.
