Gujarat to Develop Dholera as Future Port City
GANDHINAGAR: In a move to enhance industrial and trade infrastructure, the Gujarat Maritime Board has initiated preliminary studies to explore the development of a major port near Dholera. This proposed port is expected to serve as a key logistical asset supporting the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), enabling faster access to global markets.
Strategically located along the Gulf of Khambhat, the site is being assessed for its potential to manage various types of cargo, including containers, bulk goods, and exports from special economic zones. The initiative aims to bolster Dholera’s role not just as a land-based smart industrial hub but also as a prominent maritime gateway.
Key highlights:
- Proposed integration with the Dholera SIR industrial ecosystem.
- Potential development through public-private partnership (PPP) models.
This port project is set to complement ongoing smart infrastructure development in the region, offering multi-modal connectivity and positioning Dholera as a future-ready trade and export hub.
