GUJARAT: Authorities in Gujarat have submitted a proposal to develop a water desalination plant in Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) to meet the growing water requirements of industries while ensuring sustainable water management in the area. As Dholera prepares to welcome semiconductor, electronics, and advanced manufacturing industries, ensuring a stable and clean water supply has become a key priority for the state.

The proposed desalination plant will convert seawater into usable industrial water, supporting water-intensive sectors without placing stress on local freshwater resources. This initiative aligns with Gujarat’s sustainable industrial development goals, ensuring that industries setting up in Dholera can access reliable water for their operations even during dry seasons, while maintaining the region’s ecological balance.

The project is designed to incorporate energy-efficient desalination technology, using renewable energy sources where possible to reduce its carbon footprint while supplying high-quality water for manufacturing processes. In addition to industrial needs, the desalination project will contribute to water security for the local community as the region develops under India’s Make in India and Smart City missions.

By advancing this proposal, Dholera is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure while ensuring that industries, particularly in the semiconductor and electronics sectors, can operate smoothly with a consistent water supply. This forward-looking step will enhance investor confidence and support the development of Dholera as a resilient, future-ready industrial hub in Gujarat.
