GANDHINAGAR: The Draft Master Plan for Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) has officially been presented, marking a major step in its transformation into a world-class smart city. Developed with support from expert consultants, the plan outlines land use distribution, infrastructure strategy, and futuristic urban frameworks.

The proposal divides Dholera into clearly defined residential, commercial, and industrial zones. A major focus is placed on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) to ensure high connectivity through road, metro, and future port access. Green corridors and public spaces are included to support sustainable urban living.

Key highlights from the draft include:

  • Smart city elements such as ICT infrastructure, e-governance systems, and automated service delivery.

  • Adoption of smart grids for energy efficiency and better resource management.

  • Public participation planned through consultations with local stakeholders.

The master planning process reflects Dholera’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity. With this draft, the groundwork is laid for India’s most ambitious greenfield smart city, balancing growth with sustainability.
