Airport Site for Dholera Identified
GANDHINAGAR: In a strategic move to enhance connectivity for the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), the Gujarat government has officially selected the site for a new greenfield international airport. The chosen location is situated between the villages of Navagam and Fedara, offering ample space and strategic access for future air traffic.
The planned airport is set to feature dual runways, state-of-the-art cargo terminals, and full night-landing capabilities. This infrastructure is intended to handle both domestic and international flights, positioning Dholera as a major logistics and investment hub in western India.
Officials noted that the airport will play a critical role in supporting Dholera’s industrial and economic ambitions, providing a seamless gateway for exports, global investors, and large-scale infrastructure materials. It also complements Dholera’s broader development plan under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), aiming to integrate world-class logistics with modern urban planning.
Once operational, the airport is expected to attract aviation-linked industries, boost regional employment, and improve international trade logistics.
