Activation Area Concept Proposed in Dholera’s 2011 Planning Update
DHOLERA: In a pivotal update to Dholera SIR’s master plan, state planning officials and development agencies have identified an "Activation Area" as the launchpad for the first phase of smart city development. This specially demarcated zone is designed as a plug-and-play region equipped with essential infrastructure to attract early-stage investors and developers.
The Activation Area is expected to feature completed networks of internal roads, water supply, underground drainage, stormwater systems, and dedicated corridors for electricity and fiber-optic communications. Its purpose is to enable immediate operational readiness for industries and businesses without waiting for city-wide infrastructure to be completed.
Town Planning (TP) schemes have been strategically aligned to give precedence to this zone. As per planning documents, the area’s layout, zoning regulations, and engineering designs are tailored to minimize administrative delays and construction bottlenecks.
This concept not only supports the vision of Dholera as India’s first greenfield industrial smart city but also positions the region as an investor-friendly destination under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) initiative. Authorities believe that showcasing a fully serviced, functional microzone will build trust among stakeholders and accelerate larger investments.
The Activation Area represents a practical, results-oriented approach to initiating smart urban development, ensuring early visibility and momentum for the Dholera project.
