GUJARAT: The Gujarat government has announced plans to implement low-carbon industrial development strategies in Dholera, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing activities while promoting the use of renewable energy sources across industries. This step aligns with India’s climate commitments and supports the goal of building a sustainable, future-ready industrial hub in the state.

Under these strategies, industries operating within the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) will be encouraged to adopt cleaner production methods, including energy-efficient machinery, waste heat recovery systems, and solar and wind power integration into their operations. The plan also includes initiatives to promote sustainable water use, better waste management, and eco-friendly logistics to minimize the environmental footprint of industries setting up in the region.

These low-carbon initiatives are particularly important as Dholera positions itself as a hub for semiconductor, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, sectors that require reliable energy while aiming for lower operational emissions. By integrating low-carbon development strategies from the outset, Dholera will offer industries a pathway to comply with global sustainability standards, thereby attracting investment from environmentally conscious companies.

Additionally, the implementation of these measures will contribute to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents and workers in the area while supporting Gujarat’s commitment to climate action. By prioritizing renewable energy adoption and emissions reduction, Dholera is setting an example for industrial regions in India, reinforcing its role in the country’s journey toward a green, resilient economy.
