Advisory Board Formed with IIT Hyderabad Support
GANDHINAGAR: In a strategic move to bolster the technical foundation of Dholera’s smart city initiative, the Dholera Special Investment Region Development Authority (DSIRDA) announced the formation of an expert advisory board. This committee brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists including urban designers, sustainability consultants, ICT experts, and faculty members from IIT Hyderabad.
The advisory board has been assigned the role of steering the development of Dholera’s integrated infrastructure masterplan, ensuring alignment with global best practices and India’s emerging urban innovation policies. Key focus areas include smart utilities, energy-efficient planning, urban transport integration, environmental sustainability, and data-centric governance frameworks.
Faculty from IIT Hyderabad’s Urban Planning and Technology Departments will provide research-backed guidance on modular infrastructure, low-carbon systems, and ICT architecture. Additionally, international planners involved in successful smart cities across Asia and Europe have been brought on board to share global insights.
This collaboration aims to ensure that all town planning (TP) schemes under Dholera’s phased development incorporate resilient, scalable, and citizen-focused design principles. The advisory board will also work with local agencies to review feasibility studies, zoning maps, and infrastructure simulations before project execution.
The announcement marks a critical milestone in Dholera’s transition from vision to implementation, leveraging academic excellence and global planning expertise for India’s first planned smart industrial city.
