Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) or simply Atlantic Immigration is an employer-driven program launched in 2017 as an initiative between the Canadian federal government and the Atlantic provinces, namely Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Newfoundland and Labrador. AIPP is a fast-track immigration program where employers in Canada are provided with an option to employ foreign nations to work in one of the above provinces. Since the launch in 2017, AIPP has helped individuals and employers very much. A total of 1896 employers in the four provinces of Canada made 3729 job offers through this fast-track program for skilled foreign nationals. Several changes were made to AIPP, including the extension by two years & relaxing some of the eligibility requirements. Individuals with a job offer & living either in Canada or outside Canada are eligible to apply in this program.
AIPP allows local employers to identify, recruit, and retain skilled foreign talent. With this program, the government welcomes newcomers to the Atlantic region to fill the labour gaps and also the economy. The program comes with specific goals like supporting population growth, developing a skilled workforce and a rise in employment options in the four provinces. There are several requirements for employers to provide a job offer. Before the employer decides to make a job offer or hire an eligible candidate, the employer must be designated by that particular provincial government of the Atlantic province.
